I shadowed Anthony Potvin, Who runs his own Home inspection business. Its his responsibility to help protect home owners who look to sell there homes and people who want to buy a home. He is the person who goes into a home and does a inspection on everything, from the paint on the side of the house to the electrical wiring and heating on the inside. His job takes a lot of knowledge and has a lot to do heavily on instinct. If he finds anything that could be harmful or become a problem to the homeowner/buyer, in the next 5 years, and let their employer know. Anthony began this business not to long ago, he said he started it off as a part time job but then became his full time job when he fund himself with more and more clients.
During my time shadowing Anthony, I had a lot of learning to do, it was actually overwhelming at times. He saw problems the second he walked into a room and immediately started telling me. we were inspecting a home of a relative of his, since I am not allowed to go on a actual job with him. The house was built in the 1840s, just on the outside of the house alone he was already telling me about the type of yard sewage system, and how it was all damaged just by a quick look. It was really impressive how he could see all that without even moving 5 feet. I should of had something to write down all of the things he was telling me, by the time we got inside the house I was already having a hard time remembering some of the things he told me outside. I could tell Anthony was very serious about his job, but really hes a pretty relaxed person. When it was all set in done he talked me about school and what I wanted to do, He told me to follow my passion and to always try something new because that is how he discovered his job and he really loves his job.
